A Florida woman was arrested on Tuesday after an attack on a person with a service dog at a local Goodwill, according to the Casselberry Police Department.
In an arrest report, police said they were called to the Goodwill on Tuesday afternoon after receiving reports about a “battery incident.”
Upon arrival, they learned from the victim that she had been shopping with her service dog when the woman — Jacqueline James, 77, of Jacksonville — “became upset about the dog being in the aisle,” the report shows.
James confronted the victim, causing the store manager to approach to figure out what was going on, police said.

However, James slapped a basket out of the victim’s hand and grabbed the victim’s hair before pushing her to the floor, according to investigators.
James claimed that the victim had swung the basket at her during the argument, which led to the fight, police added.
Despite that claim, the report states that surveillance footage showed the victim hadn’t struck James, and James instead swatted at the victim’s hand, which was carrying the basket.
“It should be noted that Jacqueline approached (the victim), argued with her, instead of walking away to talk to the manager about the situation,” the report reads. “She placed herself in a situation that could (have) been avoided.”
According to police, the victim later discovered at the hospital that she had suffered a fractured hip, which required surgery.
As a result, James was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated battery. She is held on bond of $25,000.
