Wedman goal sinks Icemen As Everblades Tie Series

Game 3 at the Hertz Arena in Estero set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday

The ECHL held Game Two of the First Round of the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs in Jacksonville Florida as the Florida Everblades and Jacksonville Icemen took to the ice at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena on Sunday afternoon and Matt Wedman scored the game-winning goal 8:24 into overtime, lifting the Florida Everblades past the Jacksonville Icemen 2-1.

 

Three stars: 1. Wedman, Florida (one goal). 2. Cam Johnson, Florida (26 saves). 3. Matt Vernon, Jacksonville (26 saves).

Penalty box: Derek Lodermeier pushed the Icemen in front with a power-play goal at 12:59 of the second period, assisted by Christopher Brown and Brandon Fortunato.

Around the rink: The Everblades struck back only two minutes after Lodermeier's goal, with Sean Josling scoring off a Josh Ho-Sang assist. … Ho-Sang and Will Reilly both assisted Wedman's game-winner. … Florida outshot the Icemen 6-1 in the overtime.
