UNF Baseball Bested in Tight Affair to UCF

Five Errors Haunted Ospreys in 6-2 Result

North Florida baseball (19-23) kept it a tight battle with UCF (27-15) going into the seventh inning with a tied 2-2 ballgame, but couldn't keep its footing over the final stretch in the 6-2 defeat on Tuesday evening at Harmon Stadium.

The Ospreys started off its rematch against the Knights with a score in the third inning from a ball in play by Jabin Bates to tie the game at one run a piece. UCF had another run score in the fifth inning on a wild pitch, but Cherokee Nichols brought home another run to tie the game once again at 2-2.

Zane Starling had a good showing through the middle innings of the matchup with a team-high three strikeouts in nine batters faced. In the seventh, UCF jumped in front again with a two-run homer and cushioned its lead in the ninth to hand UNF a 6-2 loss in its second of three games in the season series.
