Six-Run Eighth Leads UNCG Baseball to Seventh Straight Victory

The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team rode a six-run eighth inning to a 6-2 victory over The Citadel in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Friday night at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

The win extended the Spartans' season-high winning streak to seven games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs broke into the score column first in the bottom half of the fourth inning when Travis Elliott doubled to left to score Thomas Rollauer from second to make it 1-0.

The Citadel led until the eighth inning, where the Spartans tied the game with GC Jarman singling through the right side to score Aidan Brewer. Later in the inning, Trey Truitt tripled to the alley in right to score three runs. In the next at bat, Jacob Dilley followed suit with a triple of his own to score Truitt. Dilley then scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Tyler Steele. All in all, it ended up being a four-hit inning with six runs crossing the plate for a 6-1 lead.

The Bulldogs scored the final run in the bottom of the ninth. However, Danny Thompson Jr. held it there for the Spartans to secure a 6-2 victory in the series opener.
