Ohio U.S. Senate Candidate Bernie Moreno Says ‘Dismal’ April Jobs Report Is a ‘Consequence’ of Joe Biden and Sherrod Brown’s ‘Disastrous Economic Policies’

Bernie Moreno, the Republican nominee in the Ohio U.S. Senate race, used Friday’s jobs report for the month of April to call out his opponent, incumbent U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and President Joe Biden for their “disastrous” economic policies.

In April, the economy added 175,000 jobs – below economists’ expectations – while the unemployment rate increased to 3.9 percent.

First, Joe Biden & Sherrod Brown crushed American workers and seniors with inflation causing policies. Then the Federal Reserve massively raised interest rates. Now private sector job growth has plummeted and unemployment is in the rise.

“This dismal jobs report is yet another consequence of Joe Biden and Sherrod Brown’s disastrous economic policies,” Moreno said in a statement. “While inflation is still rising, GDP is stagnant, and the unemployment rate climbs, Biden and Brown want Ohioans to believe the economy is booming.”

“In November, we will send them packing and get our economy back on track,” Moreno added.

Tied with the February rate, last month’s unemployment rate is back to its highest in two years.

When it comes to job gains, the total for February and March were revised down by 22,000 as April marked the smallest job gain since October – marking last month as one of the top five for months with the least number of jobs added under Biden.

In addition, the labor force participation rate remained at 62.7 percent in April, which is well below pre-pandemic levels.

The number of unemployed Americans increased last month to 6.492 million, and there are 777,000 more unemployed Americans than a year ago.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley also commented on Friday’s report, saying, “To no one’s surprise, April’s job report is another month of terrible results for “Bidenomics”—from the smallest job gain since October to the highest unemployment rate in two years, Joe Biden’s weak policies continue to fail hard working Americans and are a major reason why President Trump is leading in both national and battleground states polling.”
