FX’s Alien TV Show Already Has A Big Canon Problem (Not Just Because Of Prometheus)

While FXs upcoming Alien TV show has a major franchise canon problem, for once, this isnt because of Ridley Scotts confusing prequel Prometheus. The Alien franchises chronology was once fairly simple, but Alien director Ridley Scott complicated things with his 2012 prequel Prometheus. The movie and its sequel Alien: Covenant

offered a backstory for the Xenomorphs, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, and many more details of the franchises lore, but much of its plot was convoluted and contradictory. Thus, it is no surprise that director Fede Alvarezs upcoming Alien: Romulus takes the franchise back to basics with a simpler story.
