Brush fire in Palm Bay prompts crews to protect nearby structures

Firefighters responded Sunday to a brush fire in Palm Bay, the second such fire there in as many days, according to the fire department.

Sunday’s fire was reported to be near several structures in the area of the 6100 block of Babcock Street SE, where the fire department said work was underway around 12:20 p.m. to prepare the buildings for heavy exposure protection.

Video shared to social media shows smoke from the fire, which the fire department said was “in heavy fuel and quickly moving.”
