The Jacksonville Sharks Shut down the Maine Mammoths 51-21 Saturday night at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena and Don Ashton was there with My9oh4 and Picture This Photography as the Sharks get Win number 100.
The Sharks played both Adrian McPherson and Patrick McCain at quarterback tonight. McPherson played until the fourth quarter when the Sharks secured the victory. McPherson was 20-of-29 for 211 yards and four touchdowns. McCain was 0-of-5 on the night. Fullback Derrick Ross saw a lot of action tonight, with eight rushes for 28 yards and three touchdowns. Wide Receiver Chris Gilchrist led the team in receiving yards with 74 and two touchdowns. Jenson Stoshak was McPherson’s top receiver with eight catches for 56 yards. Tom Gilson got the job done to secure a Sharks victory with four receptions for 43 yards and one touchdown. Cody Saul, who played Jack Linebacker and Wide Receiver had one reception for 19 yards and one touchdown. A familiar face, Glenn Haisley, had one catch for 19 yards.
The Sharks were the first to score, with a 13 yard touchdown pass from McPherson to Gilson on fourth down. From there, the Sharks and Mammoths exchanged touchdowns and eventually made things 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Mammoths were looking to fight hard to finish the half, as they threw a 17 yard touchdown pass to Edgar Poe Jr. to tie the game at 14. The Sharks looked to finish the first half strong, forcing many turnover on downs and forcing turnovers. The Sharks would score two touchdowns and a field goal to make things 30-14 at halftime.
This is the point where the Sharks took over the rest of the games. The Sharks allowed zero points in the entire third quarter and scored two touchdowns, one from Derrick Ross and the other from Cody Saul. The Sharks started the fourth quarter up by 30 points with a 44-14 lead for Jacksonville. The Sharks and Mammoths both scored seven points in the fourth quarter. Ross rushed for his third touchdown of the night while Mammoths Wide Receiver Devin Wilson caught his first touchdown of the night. The game ultimately ended 51-21 with the Sharks on top.
