SEAWOLVES SIGN FORMER ORLANDO CITY STAR LUKE BODEN
The Orlando SeaWolves have brought back another local fan favorite, announcing today that the team has signed Luke Boden. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreements will not be disclosed.
Boden joins Lewis Neal, Tyler Turner, and Jonny Mendoza as former Orlando City players who have committed to suit up for the first-year SeaWolves when they begin their maiden voyage in the Major Arena Soccer League this November at Silver Spurs Arena.
The 29-year old Boden made 45 appearances with Orlando City in MLS, including 43 starts, in 2015 and 2016. Prior to that he played another 87 games for Orlando City when they were in the USL, and was named to the 2014 USL All-League First Team.
Boden was born in Sheffield, England, and played for several professional teams in his native country, including the EFL’s Sheffield Wednesday, before coming to the United States in 2011.
“I’ve followed Luke since his playing days with Orlando City,” said SeaWolves General Manager Chris Kokalis. “To secure a defender of his caliber who’s physical, great on the ball, and who knows what it takes to win, is a huge pickup for our club.”
In honor of Boden’s signing the club has announced that the first 3,000 fans in attendance for the team’s first ever game, a friendly against the Brazil National Minifootball Team, will receive a Luke Boden replica jersey. The match takes place November 10th at 7:05pm at the Silver Spurs Arena inside Osceola Heritage Park. Tickets starting at just $15 are on sale at the Silver Spurs Arena Box Office or online at ticketmaster.com. All season ticket holders are guaranteed a jersey with their purchase of 2018-19 season tickets which also include the Brazil game.
The SeaWolves will host an international friendly match against the Brazil National Minifootball Team on Saturday, November 10, 2018 in what will be their inaugural game and #YWHTeamNoSleep wants to see our fans yelling and screaming at the fast paced play of Indoor Soccer.
