National Arena League Action Returns To Jacksonville

Saturday Night the Vystar Veterans Arena in Jacksonville Florida will be the battlegrounds for some hard hitting Arena action as the Massachusetts Pirates take on the Jacksonville Sharks. This is a rematch from last week when the Sharks ended the Pirates six game winning streak while extending their own win streak to 11 with a 59-42 victory over the Pirates at the DCU Center last Saturday night.

Pirates QB Sean Brackett threw four TD passes but it was not enough for Massachusetts. Wide receiver Mardy Gilyard was on the receiving end of three of those passes to push his league leading touchdown total to 30. Brackett finished 21 of 34 for 198 yards with one interception. Gilyard pulled in nine balls for 95 yards. Khalid Wooten and Toby Johnson had interceptions for the Pirates.

Jonathan Bane was 21 of 32 passing for the Sharks for 174 yards and five touchdowns. Durron Neal was his leading receiver with six catches for 61 yards and two touchdowns. Fullback Alstevis Squirewell had six carries for 40 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

It’s Halloween in July, presented by Snyder’s Heating and Air so come on out and plan on having a scary good time. Whether you’re a longtime Season Ticket Holder, or about to head to your first Sharks game, check out everything you need to know for Saturday’s game.

Costume Contest  Dress up your family, and pups, for this week’s game and enter our costume contest! Prizes will be awarded and winners will be announced during halftime.

Get Spooked by the Thirteenth Floor Our spooky friends from the Thirteenth Floor will be haunting the halls of the Shark Tank. The arena will be invaded throughout the game. If you don’t want a chill sent down your spine, there will be designated safe zones along the main concourse and at the Duval entrance of the arena. The main lobby will be haunted by 13th Floor, enter if you DARE…..

Chum and Finn Autograph Session At the beginning of the second quarter, come meet and take photos with Chum and Finn during their autograph session located at section 100 by the IHeartRadio Lounge.

SharkFest SharkFest is happening this Saturday! Starting at 5:00 p.m. join in on the fun for all ages, kids and adults. Come join us for a fun time at SharkFest! There will be inflatables for the kids, & fun interactive games!

Doors Open On Saturday, the doors open at 5:30 p.m. for season ticket holders, and 6 p.m. for the general public. The game will kick off at 7 p.m.

The Sharks are proud to bring back a great tradition! Cowbells (8” in height 6” in width max) will be allowed at the arena, so bring the noise and have fun by purchasing a Sharks cowbell at our merchandise stand located on the main concourse. As stated, we will continue with the policy of fans NOT being able to bring large buckets or aerosol air horns into the arena.

The Jacksonville Sharks are the number 1 seed in the National Arena League and  have clinched home field advantage through the playoffs as they will finish with the best record in the league.

The Pirates have clinched the third seed in the upcoming National Arena League playoffs and will face the defending league champion Carolina Cobras in Greensboro the weekend of August 3. The official date and time have not yet been announced.

Jacksonville leads the all-time series four games to one. The Sharks won the first to meetings this season in Worcester. Last year the teams split the two meetings in Jacksonville while the Sharks won in the DCU Center. The Pirates have never beaten the Sharks at home.

Pirates quarterback Sean Brackett leads the NAL in pass attempts (359) and completions with 227. Brackett is 227 of 359 (63.2%) for 2,391 yards with 51 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Brackett leads the league running 398 offensive plays. His 12 rushing scores are also most in the league.

The Pirates have activated WR Dexter McCluster, Mississippi, and DE/LB Tavarus Dantzler, Buthune-Cookman from Short Term Injured Reserve. The Pirates also signed and activated free agent DL Willie Yarbary, Wake Forrest.
