Lets Take A Look At NCAA College Football
August! One of the best MONTHS of the year! Most people like December because of the holidays, but here at Sports Central, August is the BEST. Arena Football is dealing with Playoff action. The NFL is starting pre-season games. And the NCAA College teams are gearing up for another BIG YEAR!
Will UCF Continue to play strong? What will happen at FSU ? What about them Gators? And all the other big NCAA News can be found here at LockedIN Magazine!
Let’s start off with UCF.
Let’s talk QB.With less than three weeks until the first game of the season, the UCF quarterback race is “really tight.” That’s according to redshirt freshman Quadry Jones, who really wants to win the starting job over Notre Dame transfer Brandon Wimbush and true freshman Dillon Gabriel.
Jones and the other quarterbacks recently had a good opportunity to showcase their skills and potentially inching above the others in the race. According to UCF head coach Josh Heupel, each quarterback performed well and the scrimmage as a whole served a learning experience.
In Other News:
Florida Gators defensive back John Huggins has been dismissed from the football program.
A team spokesman declined to say what prompted the sophomore’s dismissal. Huggins missed all of preseason camp while dealing with what coach Dan Mullen called a “family issue.”
According to a police report released earlier this week, a 19-year-old University of Florida student accused Huggins of choking her during a tutoring session in October. Huggins was upset because the tutor took his phone in hopes of ensuring that he would stay for the entire session, the report said.
Former Georgia outside linebacker Brenton Cox, a five-star recruit who left the team earlier this week, has transferred to play for the Bulldogs’ biggest rival: Florida.
Cox, a sophomore from Stockbridge, Georgia, is listed as a player on Florida’s 2019 roster on the athletic department’s website. He will have to sit out this season under NCAA transfer rules unless he can obtain a waiver from the NCAA for immediate eligibility.
Alabama running back Trey Sanders will have foot surgery, coach Nick Saban said Saturday, while sources confirmed to ESPN that team officials fear the true freshman could miss the entire season.
Saban said Sanders will be “out indefinitely” following surgery. He did not provide further details after the Crimson Tide completed their first full scrimmage of the preseason.
If you are a fan of the FSU sports teams in 2018, it has been quite and up and down ride for you. While the Seminoles won national titles in softball and women’s soccer along with the basketball team making it to the Elite Eight, the baseball team got swept right out of the NCAA tournament and we all saw what just took place with the Noles on the football field.
Throughout the course of the season, you could see that the crowds would become less and less when the FSU football team was playing at home – a combination of factors including the poor performance on the field and things off the field like Hurricane Michael devastating the panhandle like Irma did last year for the southern part of the state.
