LockedIN On Arena League April 12th

All The News, Rumors And Sane Thoughts You Can Handle

Happy FRIDAY Day People! You know we keep saying Are You Ready For Some Football but until this weekend there hasn’t been any Real Good Arena Football Games. A few ULTRA BLOWOUTS into the American Arena League season, shows you that there will be some Major Blow Outs. I heard a RUMOR that a Pizza Chain was going to put up a Large Pizza for Every Player and Coach for Any Team that scores 100. But that has not been confirmed yet.

The National Arena League Kicks off this weekend and according to the press release the Jacksonville Sharks kick off their season at home for the first time in their 10 year history as a franchise this Saturday in the Shark Tank. Following an impressive training camp the Sharks trimmed their stacked roster of talent which boasted All-NAL stars, former NFL players, returning arena veterans, impressive rookies, and a range of talented players coming from other leagues proving that the Sharks got a little bit of everything going into this season. After falling one game short of the championship and losing their title as NAL Champs the Sharks, led by head coach Siaha Burley have a lot to prove in 2019. After reviewing each team in the NAL, it’s hard to argue against what the Sharks have put together this offseason. Developing a championship roster relies on depth at key positions and building strength in areas that were former weakness. Finishing training camp no team in the National Arena League appears to be more poised for a championship year better than the Jacksonville Sharks. In addition to gaining top arena football players, the Sharks did an excellent job forming strong football coaching staff featuring former Maine Mammoths Head Coach James Fuller (Sharks Defensive Coordinator), Lee Johnson (Sharks Assistant Head Coach/Lineman Coach) a 20-year veteran coach who spent time coaching in both the CFL and the AFL. The Sharks even found a coach from within the franchise by hiring former All-NAL Linebacker Charlie Hunt (Director of Player Personnel/ Special Teams Coordinator). The Sharks look to have a dominating season to celebrating their Decade-long success as an organization in arena football..

Come see the Jacksonville Sharks face the New York Streets this Saturday Night for KISS night. Tickets are on sale for as low as $10 in honor of the Sharks 10th anniversary, come celebrate the Sharks Decade of Dominance. Going to the KISS concert Friday night? Bring your concert ticket Saturday and get $5 off any Sharks tickets for Saturdays game. Call: 904-621-0700 or visit: www.jaxsharks.com/tickets/single-game-tickets/ .

The Massachusetts Pirates are a revamped team from that one you remember last year. And now they added more as they  have signed defensive back Lawrence Austin, defensive lineman Lourde-Quincy Vasser and offensive lineman Brandon Hodges for the 2019 season.

Austin, who checks in at 5’10” 187 lb., played his college football at Georgia Tech.  After tryouts with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League and the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football, Austin will now bring his talents to Massachusetts of the National Arena League. He’s getting comfortable in his first arena training camp.

Vasser, 6’4” 240 lbs. from Nyack, NY started his collegiate career at Navarro College and after two seasons transferred to the University of Texas where he played in 19 games over two seasons. In 2015 he appeared in eight games on defense and special teams. As a senior he saw the field 11 times on special teams and as a tight end.

After taking part in The Spring League, Vasser was invited to camp with the Washington Redskins of the National Football League and to camp with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

Hodges, from Aberdeen, MS, last played college football in 2017 as a graduate transfer for the University of Pittsburgh. The 6”4” 315 lb. started three games at right guard for the Pitt Panthers. He went on to appear in eight other contests. Prior to playing in the steel city, Hodges started in nine of the 11 games he played in at Texas in 2016. After college Hodges went to NFL camps with the Oakland Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Now down in Orlando, the Amway Center is coming back to life this summer as the JUNGLE home of KLAW and the Orlando Predators. New Team Same Name! But we are hearing some really good things out of camp and with Doug Miller as the head coach, the players will be ready!

Over in the American Arena League.

We talked about this last week, and now its game week and i LOVE the ad the Carolina Havoc used for the game:

Good afternoon Havoc Universe! On Sunday, April 14 starting at 3:05 pm, your Havoc will take on the Jensen Beach Tigers on Days Inn Florence Center Field at The Den. That will be our first annual Faith, Family, and Football Day. Our tailgating village opens at 12:00 with inflatables from Dream Inflatables, live music by Sideswiped. Kickoff is at 3:05 PM!

Its the middle of the season, and your team is playing a team that wasn’t even in the league opening day. How can the players get insured to play? Then its Faith, Family and Football Day.  WELL.. they better have FAITH, that NOTHING will happen to any of their football Family during the game.

Maybe we can get 45 ex Alliance Players together and Build a Team Real Quick!

LockedIN Magazine’s pick for the first team to hit the 100 point mark will be the WEST VIRGINIA ROUGHRIDERS as they take on the High Point Wildcats on Monday Night in Wheeling, West Virginia.  It’s COOZIES Night and the first 2500 fans in attendance will get a FREE  Coozie to keep the drinks COLD as the points add up.

For those wondering… the Wildcats were members of the ELITE INDOOR FOOTBALL League and yes, we are gathering that this is another team that the AAL is working with for 2019.

Good Luck Players.. its going to be interesting…..

So who’s Ready for Some Football?
