Weekend Of Fun Around Arena Football
So who had fun this weekend and enjoyed some good football? For once, there isn’t much negative to talk about and this weekend’s games pretty much pretty well. Mostly, the teams that should have one, did. But overall, some really good football. And we ran into some really Cool Fans!
Let’s kick off this rap up in the American Arena League.
You Know the BEST THING about this weekend’s Arena Games being over is? Honestly? Cause Now things get interesting in the American Arena League. Remember before the season started we joked about there being 4 or 5 REAL teams in the Jam Packed League before game 1. And then the Season got ready to start and teams fell off the league roster like a Wolf in a chicken Den. Lick-A Dee Split!
But now that is OVER! 8 Teams walk on to the Field next weekend and all 4 games will be Fun.
The Jersey Flight kick off the action against the West Virginia Rough Riders and do not over look the Flight’s 5-3 record. The undefeated Roughriders might be 10-0, only 5 of those games were against LEAGUE teams. Look for a close one in this Northern Division Showdown. In the Battle of strongmen, the Ironmen and the Enforcers battle for the Midwest Division.
The Peach State Cats will tangle with the Carolina Energy in the Southern Division.
And Carolina Havoc take on the Cape Fear Heroes in the Atlantic Division.
Over in the National Arena League:
As the game got ready to start at the Amway Center, You almost could imagine it being 2015 again. You look into the stands and see the Masked Fans Cheering on their Team. Klaw was at his place defending the team. And Amway got LOUD! And not the pumped in version either! One thing you got to hand it to those Orlando Predator Fans.. THEY CAN GET LOUD!
But the Jacksonville Sharks are for REAL People! Siaha Burley has that team firing on all Cylinders and they are playing like a TEAM! Maybe it took a loss in week one to get the players to JELL, but whatever it is, the Sharks have reeled in 5 in a Row, and looking unstoppable.
Five days after a dominant 70-51 victory against New York, the Massachusetts Pirates (3-4) continued to flash offensively as they routed the NY Streets (3-3) 68-53. Sean Brackett guided the Pirates with eight total touchdowns and 230 yards through the air. Mardy Gilyard lead the team in receiving with seven receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
The competitive juices still flow for Dexter McCluster . So he’s back to playing pro football — in the National Arena League.
Earlier this month, the former NFL running back and kick returner with three teams following a highly productive college career joined the Massachusetts Pirates . In his first appearance, he scored a touchdown and the Pirates got their second victory after four defeats, taking down the New York Streets 70-51 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York.
The Carolina Cobras have signed former Monterrey Steel kicker Brandon Rutherford. Rutherford also played Massachusetts Pirates and for the Tampico Lagartos in the NAIF, now known as the Monterrey Steel.
Over in the Arena Football League,
The Atlantic City Blackjacks completed its homestand with a 35-34 victory over the Baltimore Brigade on June 1 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. After a back-and-forth battle, the Blackjacks came out on top on a last second blocked field goal. The Blackjacks will begin a four-game road trip starting in Columbus against the Destroyers in Week 7.

With the shorted season, the semi final battle is on.
