Let’s start this off with some RUMORS.
The National Arena League is going to fold after 2020 and merge with the IFL. This looks more like rumor at this point, however there are indications that something is going on. The scuttle butt says the NAL had 6 good teams and added the Jersey Flight as an after thought. The Flight have good ownership. Amazing Coaches. The lacking is the promotion to make this work in Trenton.
Rumor 2, The American Arena League is going to FOLD before it kicks off the 2020 Season! LOL Even Money here. VERY Little coming out of Tony’s office at the moment but we shall see.

The Massachusetts Pirates have signed former All-Mountain West DL Youhanna Ghaifan, OL Chasz Wright
In three years at the University of Wyoming, Ghaifan recorded 135 tackles, 28 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks and forced four fumbles. Ghaifan helped the Cowboys to an eight-win season in 2016 which included a berth in the Mountain West Conference championship game and a match up against Brigham Young University in the Poinsettia Bowl. The following season Ghaifan anchored the defense with eight more victories and a 37-14 victory over Central Michigan in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
Wright was a mainstay on the offensive line for the Nittany Lions that won the 2016 Big Ten Championship and the 2017 Fiesta Bowl. After college, Wright was not selected in the NFL Draft, but he did sign a contract with the Buffalo Bills and attended their rookie minicamp. He also entered the XFL Draft last fall. Now he will look to continue his career with the Pirates with no regrets.
The 2019 Jacksonville Sharks announced today the signing of DL LaMichael Fanning for the 2020 season
LaMichael Fanning (6’7, 275) spent the 2019 season with the Columbus Lions where he played in nine games for the Lions recording 10 tackles, three for a loss, three QB hits, two sacks for eight yards and one blocked kick. Fanning began his college career at the University of Alabama where he spent three seasons under coach Nick Saban (2011-2013). He played in a total of 11 games for the Crimson Tide including eight as a redshirt freshman in 2012. After transferring to Jacksonville State, he became a First Team All-OVC stand out for the Gamecocks amassing 32 tackles, 19 solo tackles, three QB hurries, one sack, and one forced fumble.. The 6’7 defensive lineman helped the 2014 Gamecocks to a 10-2 record, an Ohio Valley Conference Championship and a second-round FCS playoff appearance against Sam Houston State.
The West Virginia Roughriders signed DB Micheaux Robinson! Micheaux brings 10 yrs of Arena experience with him as he was All AFL 1st team & 2nd team and in 2017 won the NAL Championship with Jax Sharks.
The Carolina Cobras announced the hiring of DC Anson Yarborough!
Anson Yarborough will be in second season coaching professional arena football. He is a former South Carolina Gamecock, where he played under the “Ol Ball Coach”, Steve Spurrier. As an athlete he kicked off his arena football career with the Florence Phantoms. He continued his career with the Cape Fear Heros, Triangle Torch and won a Championship at almost every stop but most recently with the Atlanta Havoc. He even briefly played for the Cobras last season.
The Carolina Cobras announced the signing of WR Chad “Optimus Prime” Walcott and
Chad Walcott (6’2” 223) is a four year vet of the arena game and each year he just keeps getting better. In 2016 he started with the Triangle Torch and in 2017 he was named SIF Offensive Player of the Year and was All-SIF. The next stop for Walcott was with the Cape Fear Heroes where he was named All-AAL. Last season after attending the training camp of the Jacksonville Sharks he ended up with the West Virginia Roughriders and won an AAL Championship. Known for having never met a wall he wouldn’t go over or through to make a catch he is going to be a great add to Cobra Nation.
Over in the IFL,
The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce its 2020 regular season schedule. The 17-week, 91-game schedule kicks off on Saturday, March 7 and concludes on Saturday, June 27.
Four new members join the IFL for the 2020 season. Two established teams are joined by two two new expansion members. The Spokane Shock return to the IFL and are joined by the accomplished Duke City Gladiators. The Oakland Panthers and the yet unnamed team in Frisco, TX are the newest expansion members.
Together along with nine incumbents: Arizona Rattlers, Bismarck Bucks, Cedar Rapids River Kings, Green Bay Blizzard, Iowa Barnstormers, Quad City Steamwheelers, San Diego Strike Force, Sioux Falls Storm and Tucson Sugar Skulls, 13 teams will battle for the 2020 United Bowl crown!
