FHSAA Football State Championship 6a Playoffs
The Florida High School Athletic Association Football State Championship 6a Playoffs brought the St. Augustine High School Yellow Jackets to Robert E. Lee High School (Jacksonville) on a rainy Friday Night and Davril Grant was at the Backyard with My9oh4 keeping out #sports fans #LockedIN.
Sophomore quarterback Cale Zarah passed for 264 yards and the Generals defense stiffened when it mattered most, forcing three takeaways and denying St. Augustine on a key fourth-quarter stand.
The Generals (8-3) needed all of those plays to overcome a tremendous effort from Jackets two-way star Jaden McDowell, who caught 12 passes for 165 yards, broke up four passes (including two near-certain touchdowns) and fought through a bout of second-half cramps to carry his team back into the contest.
The Generals now move on to the Nov. 15 regional semifinal against Columbia, a rematch of a thrilling and controversial playoff duel from 2018.
