Arena Football Update August 2

Final Week of the Regular Season In the NAL and All Star Talk In The AAL

This is the time every athlete loves the best. Its called PLAYOFF Action. You train all year round. Give up the simple pleasures to work on your craft and you dream about raising the Championship banner in your home town. The National Arena League is finishing up its season this weekend, and LockedIN Magazine looks at the Teams.

The current standings are #1 Jacksonville Sharks (10-5), #2 Massachusetts Pirates (10-5), #3 Carolina Cobras (9-5), #4 Columbus Lions (8-6). However, all these seeds can change depending what happens this weekend, so check out each team’s playoff picture to see where your team might land in 2018 NAL Playoffs.  The #1 and #2 seeds will host the first round of playoff games the weekend of August 11-14. The highest remaining seed after the first round playoff games will host the second NAL Championship Game on the weekend of August 25-27.

 

SHARKS PLAYOFF PICTURE:

The Jacksonville Sharks (10-5) have clinched a playoff spot. The following scenarios determine Jacksonville’s seeding:

#1 seed – If the Sharks defeat the Maine Mammoths, they clinch home field throughout the playoffs OR the Sharks lose to the Maine Mammoths AND Lehigh Valley beats Massachusetts Pirates AND Columbus Lions beat the Carolina Cobras.

#2 seed – If the Sharks lose to the Maine Mammoths AND Columbus Lions beat the Carolina Cobras OR the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks beat the Massachusetts Pirates AND the Carolina Cobras beat the Columbus Lions.

#3 seed – If the Sharks lose to the Maine Mammoths AND the Carolina Cobras beat the Columbus Lions AND Massachusetts Pirates beat the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks.

#4 seed – Cannot be this seed.

Tie Breaks:  Sharks hold a tie-break over the Pirates based on 2-1 head-to-head victories.

If the Sharks host a first round playoff game, it is scheduled for Saturday August 11, 7pm.  If the Sharks host the NAL Championship game, it will be Sunday, August 26, 5pm.

 

PIRATES PLAYOFF PICTURE:

The Massachusetts Pirates (10-5) have clinched a playoff spot. The following scenarios determine Massachusetts’ seeding:

#1 seed – If the Pirates defeat the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks AND the Maine Mammoths beat the Jacksonville Sharks, they clinch home field throughout the playoffs.

#2 seed – If the Pirates defeat the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks AND the Jacksonville Sharks beat the Maine Mammoths OR the Pirates lose the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks AND the Jacksonville Sharks beat the Maine Mammoths AND the Columbus Lions beat the Carolina Cobras.

#3 seed – If the Pirates lose to the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks AND the Sharks lose to the Maine Mammoths AND the Carolina Cobras beat the Columbus Lions.

#4 seed – Cannot be this seed.

If the Pirates host a first round playoff game, it is scheduled for Saturday August 11, 7pm.  If the Pirates host the NAL Championship game, it will be Sunday, August 26, 6pm.

 

COBRAS PLAYOFF PICTURE:

The Carolina Cobras (9-5) have clinched a playoff spot.  The following scenarios determine Carolina’s seeding:

#1 seed – If the Cobras defeat the Columbus Lions AND the Maine Mammoths beat the Jacksonville Sharks AND the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks beat the Massachusetts Pirates, they clinch home field throughout the playoffs.

#2 seed – If the Cobras defeat the Columbus Lions AND Lehigh Valley Steelhawks beat the Massachusetts Pirates AND the Jacksonville Sharks beat the Maine Mammoths OR the Maine Mammoths beat the Jacksonville Sharks AND the Massachusetts Pirates beat the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks.

#3 seed – If the Cobras defeat the Columbus Lions AND the Massachusetts Pirates beat the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks AND the Jacksonville Sharks beat the Maine Mammoths.

#4 seed – If the Cobras lose to the Columbus Lions.

If the Cobras host a first round playoff game, it is scheduled for Tuesday, August 14, 7pm.  If the Cobras host the NAL Championship game, it will be Monday, August 27, 7pm.

 

LIONS PLAYOFF PICTURE:

The Columbus Lions (8-6) have clinched a playoff spot. The following scenarios determine Columbus’ seeding:

#1 Seed: Cannot be this seed.

#2 Seed: Cannot be this seed.

#3 Seed: If the Columbus Lions defeat the Carolina Cobras.

#4 Seed: If the Columbus Lions lose to the Carolina Cobras

Tie Breaks:  Lions hold a tie-break over the Cobras based on 2-0 head-to-head victories.

The Lions cannot host a first round playoff game.  If the Lions host the NAL Championship game, it will be Sunday, August 26, 5pm.

The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks and the Maine Mammoth are eliminated from playoff contention.

The American Arena League started to announce their All Star Weekend activities earlier this week, first announcing that the game would be played at the Florence Center in Florence South Carolina on Saturday August 25, 2018 . Rumors have the Awards presentation on Friday August 24, 2018 and a youth camp on the morning of August 25 with the game at 7.
