Ahoy Mateys Pirates Return To The NAL For 2020

Massachusetts Pirate Announce Their Return To The NAL

Moments after the news that the Champions Indoor Football/ National Arena League merger was on hold, The Massachusetts Pirates have announced that they will return to the National Arena League for the 2020 season. A recent chain of events saw the Pirates leave the NAL only to comeback exactly 14 days later. The reason is simple, nothing really changed. The long explanation in football terms is more like “offsetting penalties.”

On September 26, officials from the National Arena League and Champions Indoor Football announced that the two leagues would merge and compete under a new name. Massachusetts Pirates Owner and President Jawad Yatim did not feel it would be in the best interest of his organization to participate in a newly formed league and that the Pirates would explore other options for the season ahead.

Today, officials from the NAL and the CIF announced that the partnership now would not be taking place this year saying that there were too many obstacles in “constructing a logical schedule for the 2020 season.” The representatives went on to say that they wanted the arrangement to work but did not want to compromise product on the field.

With the new developments leaving the National Arena League basically the way it was, Yatim had no problem coming back.

“In result of the decision by the NAL to not move forward with the execution of their proposed partnership with the CIF, we have decided to partake in the NAL for the upcoming 2020 season,” Yatim said. I look forward to shifting my attention on putting together a roster and coaching staff that will compete for a championship in 2020,” he added.

It is expected that the NAL will announce expansion plans in the near future, but the partnership with the CIF is officially postponed.

Pirates season tickets for the 2020 season are now available starting at $99.00.
